Everything you need to know about phone calls with cablecom mobile

Read the tips and tricks for cablecom mobile below to find out what you need to do in case of theft, how to find and store your IMEI, PIN and PUK numbers, and things to be aware of when you travel abroad.

PIN and PUK – two codes you will need regularly

Important security rules:
Keep your PIN and PUK safe and separate from your mobile phone.

What to do if you have entered your PIN1 or PUK1 code incorrectly several times?
Call our helpline on 0848 333 334. Please have your original PIN1 / PUK1 codes ready. If you have entered your PIN1 code incorrectly three times, you can use your PUK1 code to reactivate your device. Caution: if you enter your PUK1 code incorrectly seven times, your SIM card will be blocked irreversibly.

Important codes for PIN and PUK:

Change PIN1: + old PIN1 new PIN1 new PIN1
Change PIN2: + old PIN2 new PIN2 new PIN2
Change PIN1 using PUK1: + PUK1 new PIN1 new PIN1
Change PIN2 using PUK2: + PUK2 new PIN2 new PIN2

Please note: If you have any requests, you must, for identification purposes, always provide cablecom with your original PIN/PUK code.

IMEI? – What’s that?

On your mobile phone, the 18-digit device number can usually be found underneath your battery. Alternatively, it may appear on your mobile display when you enter the numerical sequence . Please make a note of it and keep it safe.

Different country, same customs?

Don’t talk on the phone while driving even when you’re abroad
As is the case in Switzerland, talking on your mobile phone while driving is illegal in most countries unless you have a hands-free set. If in doubt, ask the tourist board or the embassy of the destination country.

Customs
You can take your mobile phone to almost all countries without having to complete a customs form.

Always use the country code
Store complete phone numbers on your SIM card, i.e. including country code. That way you can make phone calls without delay both in Switzerland and abroad. Incidentally: your mobile phone knows whether you are in Switzerland or abroad. This means that even if the country code is included in the stored number, you will only pay the low-priced cablecom mobile rates when you are in Switzerland.

Wasn’t my mobile in my pocket just now?

What to do when your mobile is stolen?
If your mobile phone is stolen – no matter whether the theft occurs in Switzerland or abroad – call our helpline 0848 333 334 as soon as possible, so that we can block your cablecom mobile card (SIM card) for you. For the purpose of identification, please have your PIN1 and your PUK1 ready. From abroad, dial +41 848 333 334 (subject to a charge). This will prevent fraudulent use of your card. In addition, you should report the theft to the police.

Emergency numbers
In case of an emergency both within or outside Switzerland, please dial 112. However, some countries do not use this standard number..

Mobile reception: wanted and unwanted interruptions

When must you switch off your mobile phone?
Never use your mobile phone in hospitals, airplanes or other places where it may interfere with highly sensitive and in some cases even life-supporting devices. If in doubt: turn off your mobile phone. Meanwhile, your personal voice mailbox will take all important calls for you.

Malfunctions
Your mobile phone may not have any reception temporarily in some places, particularly in rocky areas, underground locations or closed constructions (lifts). This is normal. As soon as you are out of the critical zone, your device will function normally once more.
